Thank you for asking. Right now i mainly use linkscout to promote all my products...anything. It's free to join. Takes awhile to get what it's all about. Another great free traffic building program i use is Link referral. It takes about 30 minutes a day or less then that time to complete the daily requirement's if you use this 7 days a week. I don't use them 7 days a week but get a good amount of clickthru's to any site i promote with them. There paying referral program is great also. (I have stickies about these 2 programs on this forum)
Forums are a great way to get your website some traffic from different part's of the world i think. One thing about forums is if they have a referral program like i installed, use this to your advantage. Refer people to that forum and get yourself in top 10 list. By doing this, visiters or even members will usually look at the top10 referrer's websites a lot and click on the profile links. (bonus free advertising even when you are offline)
I own a web directory in which i stopped promoting on forums but now promote on high page rank directories. By doing this, i am hopefully securing a valuable backlink in hopes of helping the web directory recieve a higher page rank and inner page rank on next pagerank update.
There are free and paid web directories to submit to. I have a list of some quality free directories to submit to. (Please note web directories hardley ever except redirect links, affiliate links)
